Research informs possibilities rather than supplying every answer
Market research can establish where a business stands without resolving what it should create next. The Frameworks argues that customer insights, market analysis and competitive understanding provide essential context, but cannot supply every new possibility.
The Frameworks' approach to strategic exploration starts with the creativity of people closest to the business, including those who will have to put decisions into practice. For leaders considering a new direction, the practical distinction is to give people room to imagine alternatives before asking analysis to test and rationalise them. Financial analysis may be needed later; it should not be expected to originate the possibilities it assesses.
Bringing different outlooks into the discussion also broadens the thinking available. In PwC's 2025 findings covering US Fortune 1000 and private companies, 58% of CEOs are gathering diverse executive perspectives and encouraging internal debate, while 50% are bringing in external advisers to challenge their thinking.
