Connect the proposition to business and role-based needs
Account-specific positioning needs to address both the organisation's requirements and the challenges of the people involved in buying. Start by identifying the target account and mapping its buying committee, rather than treating the account as a single audience. Use account insights to develop key themes, then translate those themes into messages and content that give stakeholders meaningful reasons to engage.
The approach is useful when a priority relationship has lost momentum, a brand message is not landing with particular clients, or a significant opportunity requires an offer tailored to the customer's requirements. Keep stakeholders engaged throughout the campaign and measure account progress. In a 2025 study by Edelman covering hidden business-purchase influencers in the United States, 85% of hidden buyers prioritise a prospective vendor's understanding of their business challenges.
