Connecting technical capabilities to the difference they make
Explaining complex technology means connecting what it does with consequences people can recognise. Technical detail alone can leave that connection unclear, especially when the technology operates behind everyday systems or serves several industries. A useful starting point is the practical change it enables: a more precise measurement, a healthcare advance or a familiar daily experience. You can then explain the capabilities behind that change. The balance matters: human relevance gives people a reason to engage, while specific technical connections keep the explanation grounded.
For Yokogawa T&M, the campaign idea "Built on precision" connected measurement accuracy with progress towards sustainability. The narrative showed how precise measurements help quantify progress and give engineers confidence to act. Visual elements drew on product displays and buttons, linking the broader sustainability story back to the tools that make it possible. This made purpose inseparable from technical practicality.
For IBM, the task was to make largely unseen contributions to everyday life easier for employees to explain. Dense case studies, technical documentation and press materials were transformed into understandable, shareable stories. Familiar objects, places and experiences provided a way into the technology, making its impact more tangible. Rather than asking employees to repeat technical accounts, the work equipped them with narratives connecting IBM's capabilities to the world around them.
