Make technical expertise matter to business leaders
Board-level audiences do not need a watered-down version of technical expertise. They need to see why that expertise matters to the business challenges they are accountable for. A strong corporate brand can bridge that gap by turning specialist capability into a clear, confident idea with wider relevance.
Dassault Systèmes faced this exact challenge when it expanded beyond its familiar audience of designers and engineers. Its broader proposition needed to build awareness among board-level executives while retaining its pioneering roots in 3D software, design and manufacturing. The resulting "IF WE" idea became the centrepiece of a global campaign, using intriguing questions to open up possibilities rather than leading with technical detail.
The lesson is simple: keep the technical proof, but lead with the opportunity it creates. Give executive audiences a reason to look closer, then make the depth easy to find when they do.
