Making human impact tangible without narrowing the story
Showing a business's human impact means connecting what it does with the people and everyday experiences it affects. That connection can be difficult to see when the explanation is buried in technical documentation, case studies or internal materials. You need to make the human relevance clear without losing technical credibility or reducing a broad contribution to a single example. A useful approach is to draw out several concrete stories, express them in simple language and give them a consistent narrative. Familiar objects, places and experiences help audiences understand what complex work enables, rather than only what it involves.
For IBM, The Frameworks turned a wide library of case studies and internal materials into concise, shareable stories linking innovations to everyday life. A storytelling platform distributed these across a website, social channels, internal communications and physical materials. This gave employees accessible ways to explain IBM's often unseen contribution, increasing engagement and strengthening understanding of its widespread impact.
For Tata Technologies, the task was to make engineering's human contribution clearer. Research and stakeholder conversations informed a brand strategy built around the existing tagline, "Engineering a better world". By shifting attention from systems and machines to what engineering enables, The Frameworks balanced technical credibility with emotional clarity, giving engineers, business leaders and future talent a more human account of the company's work.
